HISTORY

"It's hard to believe that it started with three teams and a dream."

--Rodney Keinath

In March of 1996, armed with a typewriter and an idea, founder Mike Borda sent a letter to 8 other players inviting them to what is now known as the Sierra Nevada Classic.

The purpose was simple--to create an event that would bring friends and family together at least once per year.  As Mike stated at the end of the letter, "Life is too short not to have events such as these in our lives."

In 2015, thirty-four friends will gather in Gardnerville, NV for the 20th annual event.

EVOLUTION

Since May of 1996, the Sierra Nevada Classic has been constantly evolving in an effort to become the best possible tournament for the comeptitors as they gracefully age.

The annual tournament has taken many twists and turns since it's inception, with more changes likely on the horizon.  A timeline of the event was created by the SNC Commission to chronicle these changes.
